Calvin and Hobbs

I think the cartoon from Calvin and Hobbs is perfect. We humans think we are so important. And, yes, we do have a strong influence on everything now.

But, if we do ourselves in, and self-exterminate, the earth will go on... gliding through space just as it did for billions of years before we arrived.
